What to expect

A setting designed around children

Every aspect of the environment is built for children, from the ward design to the teams who look after them.

Specialist paediatric teams

Every nurse, anaesthetist and theatre team member works exclusively with children. Your child is cared for by people trained to support young patients of every age.

Intensive care always on site

Paediatric intensive care and high dependency units are within the hospital. If anything unexpected happens, specialist help is immediately available with no transfer needed.

Every specialty under one roof

Evelina London is in Central London. If your child needs input from another specialty, those teams are all nearby.

Designed to feel welcoming

Themed floors, natural light and a large atrium help make visits as calm as possible. A play team runs activities for children of all ages throughout the day.

Regulated and inspected

All care takes place within Evelina Childrens Hospital, regulated by the Care Quality Commission. The 2024 CQC survey ranked Evelina London better or much better than other trusts for family experience.

Easy to reach

Evelina London is on Westminster Bridge Road, SE1. Waterloo and Westminster stations are both a short walk away, making it straightforward to reach from across London.

Shorter stays

Children's Day Surgery Unit

Many of Miss Torres-Grau's procedures take place in Evelina London's Children's Day Surgery Unit, opened by the Princess of Wales and purpose-built for shorter procedures that do not require an overnight stay.

The unit has two dedicated operating theatres and a comfortable family lounge. Admission, surgery, recovery and discharge all take place in the same unit on the same day.

  • Two dedicated paediatric operating theatres for day procedures

  • Comfortable family lounge so parents can stay close throughout

  • Bright, child-friendly design to help children feel at ease

  • Won the RICS London Awards Public Sector Project category in 2024

For most procedures

Home the same day

For the majority of plastic surgery procedures, including ear correction, mole and lump removal, tongue tie, and scar treatment, children are admitted, treated and discharged on the same day. This means less disruption for your family and a faster return to normal life for your child.

Miss Torres-Grau will confirm at your consultation whether your child's procedure will be a day case or whether an overnight stay is needed.
